Creative zen V / 2Gig A+++
Pros: Small with enough weight so you dont forget it, pretty good sound
Cons: Small screen, awkward power switch, volume control does not remember settings Full review I had originally had a minidisk player, but got tired of carrying all of the disks around. I won this unit (2G) and was quite pleased with it. I especially liked the size, and the fact that you can hang it around your neck (not like the ipod shuffle which clips and is easy to lose). One note, go on ebay and buy a clear plastic case to protect the screen. Unless your going to use the memo, recording, and organizer modes then don't bother to load the "creative" software, because the unit wonderfully connects, and syncs with Windows media player, and Win-amp If your just going to listen to music then when you get it immediately erase it for the most room. I was disappointed when I finally ran out of memory, and its not upgradeable. so I gave it to my daughter and SHE LOVES IT. I can't find the 4 gig models anywhere so Im going with a regular "zen" which has a bigger screen. The battery life is downright scary, I drove from Northern Ohio to Southern, Ohio (about 4 hours, and the unit had PLENTY of power left to go. I believe that fact that it automatically dims the screen has something to do with it. The only bad things I can say about it are 1) The power switch has to be held down to power it on/off. Its sort of like your "BOOTING the thing, and the volume control does not remember where it was between power ups/downs. This could be interpreted as a safety feature, (for the ears), Overall you will NOT be disappointed with this unit I would have bout it again if I could have found it to buy it. But if the newer unit is 1/2 as good as this one then I will be VERY satisfied!!! |
